  • Security Services Officer

    The Atlanta University Center - Robert W. Woodruff Library supports the teaching and learning missions of four institutions of higher learning that comprise the world’s largest consortium of HBCUs—Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College, and Spelman College.  Conveniently located and easily accessible to the campuses, the Woodruff Library is the center of the intellectual and social life at the Atlanta University Center. 


    The Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center is seeking highly motivated, energetic full-time Security Services Officer.  This individual will assist in securing the safety of the library’s property, patrons, visitors, and staff.

    Second Shift
    Sunday through Thursday - 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.


    • Ability to read and write in order to review and complete required incident reports
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with library patrons, employees and visitors
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background and drug test
    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time 
    • Ability to follow instructions
    • Candidates must have at least one year experience in security, law enforcement or military


    • High school/GED or vocational school diploma
    • Two to three years’ experience

    SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with experience; benefits for full-time positions include medical, dental, vision, life, company paid disability plans, company match retirement plan (TIAA-CREF).

  • Graduate Assistant - Part-time (Discovery & Access Services)

    The Information and Research Services Unit of the Discovery and Access Services Department of Robert W. Woodruff Library - Atlanta University Center is seeking a highly motivated, energetic student to assist in providing information services for library users.  Student must be available to work 20 hours per week during library hours of operation. 


    • Enrolled as a graduate student at one of the Atlanta University Center member institutions
    • Experience working in library desirable
    • Basic knowledge of the LC classification system
    • Basic knowledge of general databases and print resources available in the Woodruff library
    • Basic to intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Basic to intermediate computer technical skills
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Attention to detail required
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience with iMACs and software desirable Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
    • Sound judgment to identify and report problems to supervisors and contribute to resolving them
